Review: TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB – TOURIST HISTORY

Friday, 28th May, 2010 | No Comments »

Confidently bursting forth with the same hip-shaking blend of electro and indie that saw We Are Scientists hit the big time, Ireland’s Two Door Cinema Club pedal breezy, catchy and danceable tunes which will move you in a club and sit happily on a home stereo. While they’re not breaking new ground, their foothold in the patch they walk on is strong enough to make the songs sound effortlessly uncontrived and still have a flair of inventiveness to them. Tourist History won’t tax you but it’s far from offensive too. The flourishes of greatness pop up and take you by surprise and whatever you’re doing you find you’ve stopped and instead you’re dancing. Sometimes you don’t really need any more than that from an album. And there’s a cat on the cover. That’s always nice.
