Review: Fe RAw

In this digital age, mixtapes continue to be an outlet for artists to show off their skills on the cheap. While they’re no longer mixing and rapping to cassette, free distribution over the Internet has proved a worthwhile successor to selling tapes from a case at shows.
It’s thanks to online mixtape communities that we’ve got to hear US female rapper Fe RAw’s latest and greatest effort. She Can’t Rap, She’s Fxckin Asian is truly independent in spirit and totally fresh. 17 year old Bay Area Californian Fe RAw has intelligent, biting and witty rhymes with none of the boring generic bravado of the top 40 rappers. Taking tracks from other upcoming rappers and producers, she adds verses to each and makes an exciting document of the superior underground rap available behind the tired bling-faced millionaires.
The beats are good for jerkin’ (YouTube it, then do it) and have a nice flow. Fe RAw faultlessly raps over them and the DIY feel gives it a rough, raw feel that 99% of the digitally perfected and stripped of character club hits lack.
She’s got style, confidence and is completely refreshing. Download it for free from datpiff.com
