THE SECRET MACHINES HK DATE ANNOUNCED
Monday, 8th February, 2010 | 1 Comment »Local promoter extraordinaire The Peoples Party aren’t content with their forthcoming lineup of Glassjaw (17th Feb) and OK Go (24th Feb), no sir-ee. They’ve gone and announced that space rock kings The Secret Machines will be swinging by Grappa’s Cellar on the 17th of March.
The Secret Machines are a band still relatively secret in wider music circles despite critics loving them, as well as anyone who ever comes within earshot of their music. They’re from Texas, mix the spacey side of The Smashing Pumpkins with an 80s feel that’s straight off the Donnie Darko soundtrack, whilst all the while keeping it just mellow and melodic enough to not push the fuzz too far.
They’ve just released their third album which is yet to make the rounds at camp Brouhaha but we can’t recommend their 2006 album and long-time Brou favourite, Ten Silver Drops enough.
Wednesday 17th March, Grappa’s Cellar, 8pm. $280 advance (on sale 24th February)
Listen for yourself.
